Like any creative art, perfumery arouses the imagination, starting with that of its creator. Also, various influences are what make perfumery what it is today. The experience of each perfumer, his childhood memories as well as the places he has passed through are all elements that help spark his imagination. Thus, Quentin Bisch is one of those who like to draw deep within themselves to develop the most beautiful essences.
The fascination of smells by Quentin Bisch
Quentin Bisch was born in 1983, in Strasbourg. Nonetheless, he moved to London when he was barely five years old. He stayed there for two years and, although he was very young, he says he has an intense memory of this British period of his life. He retains an excellent feeling and believes that it is there that he learned to appreciate his first smells. He remembers in particular the freshly baked cookies, the smell of hot tar close to the playground he went to in summer, the fresh cucumbers served at noon for school lunch, the smell of bark of Hyde Parc… Likewise, he remembers the perfumes of his parents: Shalimar, Poison, Loulou or Coco for his mother, Habit Rouge, Derby and Vetiver for his father. This is how he forged his experience in perfumery. Furthermore, Quentin Bisch has always had an excellent olfactory memory. Thus, he is still able to tell exactly what perfume each of his teachers wore. Moreover, it was to one of them that he proudly replied that he wanted to be a perfumer, when he was barely 11 years old.
The formation of Quentin Bisch
Very quickly, Quentin Bisch discovered that the ISIPCA of Versailles was the best school for perfumery. However, knowledge of chemistry was required to be admitted. Very gifted in art but particularly bad in science, Quentin Bisch quickly gave up this course and turned to the art of performing. He obtained a Master 2 in this way but was very quickly disappointed with his destiny. Thus, he wrote letters to the greatest perfume houses and in particular to Jean Guichard, director of the Givaudan perfume school. He advised him to become an assistant perfumer, an opportunity that Michel Almairac later gave him in the Robertet laboratory in Grasse. This then enabled him to be trained at Givaudan and
It was a long road for Quentin Bisch until he reached the post of perfumer. Nevertheless, believing more strongly than anything in his dream, Quentin Bisch can today boast of having done everything to make a living from his passion. What is more, a true artist at heart, he now has many planetary successes to his name. He has notably collaborated with Etat Libre d’Orange, Réminiscence and Ex Nihilo, but above all with Thierry Mugler. In addition, it is to him that we owe the last Angel Muse.
