The Male Essence de Perfume, the reinterpretation of the myth of Jean-Paul Gaultier

With his eternal sailor top and platinum blond brush, Jean-Paul Gaultier is a key figure in fashion. Nicknamed “The enfant terrible of fashion”, he opened his first boutique in 1985. Between the striped sweater, the corset or even the dress with iconic breasts, Jean-Paul Gaultier aroused worldwide interest. The first perfume of the brand “Classique” released in 1993 calls out thanks to its bottle in the shape of a corset. Then, in 1995, Jean-Paul Gaultier offered “Le Mâle”, which would become a legendary success. It was not until 2016 that the house of Jean-Paul Gaultier reinterpreted its star fragrance with “Le Mâle, Essence de Parfum”.

The timeless Male according to Jean-Paul Gaultier

It was in 1993 that the brand unveiled “Le Mâle”. As soon as it was released, the perfume was at the top of sales. Like the personality of the couturier, “Le Mâle” is an extraordinary fragrance, but authentic. The bottle, in the form of a bust dressed in a striped sweater, was intended to be as daring as the fragrance. Undoubtedly, “Le Mâle” is the scent of men who assume themselves. If “Le Mâle Essence de Parfum” does not deny this evidence, it wants to be even more sensual, sensuality mixed with an incredible freshness . With “Le Mâle Essence de Parfum”, Jean Paul Gautier writes a new chapter in the timeless Mâle, re-adapting for the occasion, both its composition and its bottle.

Le Mâle Essence de Perfume, notes between freshness and spices

In order to carry out this revisit, Jean-Paul Gaultier called on Quentin Bisch, an extraordinary perfumer. “Le Mâle Essence de Parfum” begins with the freshness of lemon associated with cardamom. The heart becomes more and more masculine thanks to the presence of lavender, an emblematic ingredient of the “Le Mâle” collection. Lavender mingles with leathery notes for an even more virile finish. Finally, the base of “Le Mâle Essence de Parfum” is woody, amber, because it combines amber, vanilla, coumarin and costus, which is a plant root from China, offering an animal and muffled scent Jeremy fragrance. No one has forgotten the new bottle of the “Male”. The famous glass bust is, of course, back, not without some modifications. The silhouette of the “new male” is leaning slightly back, slimmer at the waist and also more sculpted. The edges are also sharper and more precise. The iconic marinière has disappeared in favor of an ultra-polished, transparent glass that could not be more modern. We can thus see the blue gray tint of the new nectar. The whole is refined and much more refined than its predecessor.

With “Le Mâle Essence de Parfum”, Jean-Paul Gaultier offers another chapter of Le Mâle, thus continuing its story. Still as daring as ever, “Le Mâle Essence de Parfum” is however more sensual than the original. Its iconic bottle also presents touches of modernity, such as a polished glass or a slimmer silhouette, for a much more sophisticated ensemble.
