Eau de Citron Noir, an original Eau de Cologne signed Hermès

Perfumery is an art in its own right whose ancestral history fascinates. Indeed, it has been a long time since spices and flowers have been used to enhance our daily lives. The Egyptians were already using them. However, modern perfumery as we know it today draws its source rather from Eau de Cologne. These were fresh scents which, however, had the reputation of lacking tenacity. Today, Hermès has decided to breathe new life into them in a large collection of Eau de Cologne. As such, its olfactory blend is enriched by a newcomer: Eau de Citron Noir .

Hermès Eau de Cologne

First, let’s start by presenting the famous Hermès Eau de Cologne collection. Indeed, this is one of the most famous olfactory assemblages in all perfumery. It all began in 1979 when Hermès decided to create a very first fragrance inspired by the Eau de Cologne of yesteryear. Since 1998, this juice has been renamed Eau d’Orange Verte. Expressing a simple and authentic refinement, it did not take long to become a true icon of perfumery. What is more, he is at the origin of numerous Eaux de Cologne signed Hermès, a collection that continues to grow from year to year.

The return of the iconic Hermès lantern bottle

All the perfumes in the Eaux de Cologne d’Hermès collection are presented to us in a unique bottle, with a slender and refined silhouette. Forming a column of glass, this bottle is inspired by the lantern that used to light up carriages in the past. In fact, Hermès has always been very close to the equestrian world and the world of travel. For the occasion, the Eau de Citron Noir bottle is covered in a very refined blue color. The set is topped with a black screw cap that can be replaced by a spray spray that you just have to slip on top.

Black Lemon Water, a particularly smoky fragrance

“A journey through the olfactory universe of citrus notes plunged me into the heart of the vast world, strewn with surprises, of lemons,” explains Christine Nagel, perfumer at Hermès.

“Lemon caviar, lemon hand of Buddha, lemon Eureka … So many original lemons appealed to me, but it is the black lemon, so smoky, so racy, which finally established itself as the highlight”. You will understand, this is the main ingredient of this composition. Black lemon is originally a lime which is put in brine and which is dried. This process gives it its black color and gives it a new flavor. On the nose, it exudes a fresh, powerful and concentrated scent, both sweeter than that of a traditional lemon and somewhat metallic. The black lemon here gives off subtle smoky and fermented notes which give it all its charm. Eau de Citron Noir is a perfume reminiscent of a famous scent from Iran and which takes us on a journey with a single breath.
